ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

Formed in 1996 the band of 4 remained almost the same since their days at Kanto Gakuin University in the Yokohama, Japan. AKG has since released over 7 albums and 18 Singles, amassing many awards like the MTV Video Music Awards and are constantly on Oricon chart rankings.

They can be considered an indie rock band with a tint of punk pop, making their music rather soothing yet with that catchiness of pop music, in a sense, they are similar to the angsty One OK ROCK, with the cheerfulness of FLOW.

The group consist of the the following members, from the left to the right,

The member have never really changed after the addition of Kiyoshi as the drummer. This year would mark their 10th year since their first major studio album, Kimi Tsunagi Five M, released in Nov 2003.  Over these years, they have produced music for use in TV Dramas, Movies and Anime, one of their most famous would be Haruka Kanata, used in the 2nd season of Naruto the anime series.

Ah it’s been so long since I have heard this song. Still as good as ever!
And for 2013, AKG will be releasing their latest “Best of” album, today(18th January)! Followed by their 19th Single, “Ima wo Ikite” on the 20th of February.
